This tiny orifice caused a major compressor problem for a company in Littleton, MA. This orifice is located in the scavenger oil return line. Any oil that gets through the air/oil separator is returned to the air end through the scavenger return line. When a this line is clogged, the oil has no choice but to be passed downstream into the the plants compressed air system. This means that the oil isn’t staying in the compressor. Low oil level means the compressor will overheat and shut down. This is why preventive maintenance is extremely important. Something this small and hidden caused production loss and down time for this company. We went in before business hours the next day to solve this issue and got the company back up and running properly.
Preventive Maintenance can’t be ignored!
